On Sunday, Conor McGregor had surgery to repair a fractured left tibia and fibula, one day after Dustin Poirier defeated McGregor by TKO at UFC 264.
In a tweet, McGregor stated that he would be on crutches for six weeks. “I’m in a fantastic mood!” McGregor penned the piece.
Poirier and McGregor traded blows in the opening round of their much-anticipated third meeting, but the fight was suspended between the first and second rounds. As he traded blows with Poirier near the end of the first round, McGregor’s left leg looked to buckle.
When McGregor is “healed and ready,” White says a fourth battle between the two will take place. Poirier has beaten McGregor in the last two encounters, both in 2021. Poirier defeated McGregor by TKO in the second round in January.
At their pre-fight news conference on Thursday, McGregor teased Poirier by claiming he’d be carried out on a stretcher after their battle. Due to his injury, McGregor had to be rolled out on a stretcher after the bout on Saturday.
After the bout, Poirier commented, “Karma isn’t a bitch, she’s a mirror.” “You can say whatever you want about the trash, but murder isn’t something you play around with.

McGregor’s injury provoked outrage from sports fans all across the world.

Manny Pacquiao complimented Poirier as well, but predicted that McGregor would return.
In the co-main event, welterweight Gilbert Burns defeated Stephen Thompson by unanimous decision with scorecards of 29-28, 29-28, 29-28.
In other main event bouts, Irene Aldana defeated Yana Kunitskaya in the women’s bantamweight class by TKO by punches at 4:35 in the first round. Former NFL defensive lineman Greg Hardy was defeated by heavyweight Tai Tuivasa in the first round by TKO at 1:07.
Sean O’Malley defeated Kris Moutinho in the third round via TKO at 4:33. When it appeared that Moutinho was going to go the distance, the bout was stopped.
